Cookies

Every cookie, by name.
What it does, how long it lives.

Plain language, no legalese. We use the fewest trackers we can get away with and we list every single one here. No surprises, no dark patterns.

1. What a cookie is

A "cookie" is a small piece of data stored in your browser so a site can remember things between page loads — like whether you're signed in, what language you picked, or whether you've accepted this very banner. Related technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage, which do the same thing but live inside your browser instead of being sent to a server. In this policy we use "cookie" to mean all of them, because that's what everyone else does.

Nothing on this page is a trick. If a cookie is set, it's listed below.

2. The three categories we use

  • Essential — needed for the site to work. Can't be turned off; using the site without them wouldn't work. No consent required under GDPR or the Swedish Lag om elektronisk kommunikation (LEK) because these are strictly necessary.
  • Analytics — tell us which pages are visited, roughly from where, and how long you stayed. Off by default. On only if you tap "Accept" in the banner. We only use privacy-respecting EU-hosted analytics (Plausible or Fathom) — no cross-site tracking.
  • Marketing — would let us measure the effectiveness of ads or remember your interest for future campaigns. Off by default and currently not enabled. Listed here for transparency; if we ever turn this on we will update this policy and ask again.

3. Essential cookies & storage

These are the only things we set when you visit the site without choosing anything in the banner.

Name Type What it does Lifetime
jn_cookie_consentlocalStorageRemembers your cookie-banner choices so we don't ask every page load.Until you clear your browser or we release a new consent version
jn_localelocalStorageStores the language you picked (English, Svenska, Dansk, Deutsch, etc.) so pages render in your language next time.Until you change it or clear your browser
jn_sessionSession cookieKeeps you signed in across pages while a browser tab is open. Expires when you close the tab.Browser session
jn_auth_tokenSecure cookie (HTTPS-only)Set after sign-in. Lets our backend recognise your account without you re-entering your password every page.30 days (sliding; refreshed on activity)
_cf_bmThird-party (Cloudflare)Bot-protection; distinguishes humans from automated traffic. Set by Cloudflare, our DDoS protection provider.30 minutes

No analytics, no advertising, no social-media trackers are included in essential.

4. Analytics (opt-in)

When you tap "Accept" in the banner, we may set one or both of the following. They tell us which pages visitors look at and roughly where they come from (country/city, never street-level). They do not identify you personally.

Provider What it does Lifetime
Plausible or Fathom (we are selecting between these — both EU-hosted, no personal data)Aggregated page views, referrers, device type, country. No cross-site tracking. No persistent user ID.Session-scoped, no persistent cookie

We will not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other analytics tool that profiles users across sites. If that ever changes, we will update this page and ask you to re-consent.

5. Marketing (opt-in, currently not enabled)

Marketing cookies are not set on justneed.ai. If we ever introduce them (for example, a Meta or LinkedIn conversion pixel on an advertising campaign landing page), we will:

  • Update this page with the full list of marketing cookies and their providers.
  • Trigger a new cookie banner version so you are asked explicitly before any marketing cookie is set.
  • Honour any "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals your browser sends.

6. Third-party cookies on this site

Third parties we embed, in full:

  • Cloudflare — bot protection, as described above (_cf_bm cookie). Essential.
  • Google Fonts — serves the Inter and Fraunces webfonts used across the site. Google may receive your IP and User-Agent to deliver the font files. We use the fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com endpoints with crossorigin hints. No persistent cookie is set by Google Fonts.

That is the complete list. We do not embed Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or any similar widgets that would set third-party cookies.

7. Managing your preferences

Three ways to change what you've consented to:

  • Reopen the cookie banner using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page, or by tapping Manage cookie preferences here.
  • Clear jn_cookie_consent in your browser's developer tools — this makes the banner reappear on your next visit.
  • Clear all cookies for justneed.ai in your browser's privacy settings — this resets everything, including your sign-in.

8. Browser-level controls

Every modern browser lets you block cookies, delete them, or receive a prompt before accepting them. Direct links to the help pages:

Blocking all cookies will prevent sign-in and may break other site functions. Blocking only third-party cookies is a reasonable compromise.

9. In the mobile app

The Justneed mobile app does not run web cookies. It stores the following locally on your device, equivalent to essential cookies:

  • Your authentication token (so you don't sign in every time you open the app).
  • Your language and theme preference.
  • A record of which Terms + Privacy version you accepted (for GDPR Art. 7(1) demonstrable consent).
  • A record of cached job cards for faster browsing offline.

The app uses Firebase Analytics in anonymous mode for crash and stability reporting only, with no personal identifiers. You can turn off app-level analytics in your device Settings → Justneed → Analytics, or in the app itself under Privacy settings.

10. Changes to this policy

We will update this page whenever we add, remove, or change a cookie or similar storage mechanism. Material changes also bump the cookie-banner version string so you are re-prompted. The "Version" and "Last updated" fields at the top of this page always reflect the current state.
