The one-sentence definition
A Digital Skill ID is a verified career credential issued by Justneed.ai — auto-generated from your CV in 3 minutes, published at a public URL, scannable by QR, and portable across every platform, business card, or email signature you use.
Where a traditional CV is a self-declared static document, a Digital Skill ID is evidence: parsed by AI from your uploaded resume, cross-checked against national identity systems (BankID in Sweden, MitID and FranceConnect coming soon), confirmed by your employers, and updated automatically as your career grows.
The format: JN-YYYY-XXXXX
Every Digital Skill ID follows the same structure:
- JN — the issuer prefix (Justneed).
- YYYY — the year the ID was issued (e.g.
2026). - XXXXX — a unique five-character identifier for the holder.
Example: JN-2026-A7K9P — issued in 2026 to holder A7K9P. Every ID resolves to a public profile at justneed.ai/{username}, where the same person's verified profile is displayed with all the badges, skills, and matches attached to their Digital Skill ID.
How to get a Digital Skill ID (3 minutes)
- Sign up free at justneed.ai/get-started — email + password, or continue with Google.
- Upload your CV (PDF or DOCX). Google Gemini AI extracts every skill, role, credential, and language automatically — no forms to fill in.
- Review and claim your generated Digital Skill ID. Adjust any field, then claim.
- Share your public URL (
justneed.ai/{username}) or the QR code — on LinkedIn, in your email signature, on a business card, printed on a résumé.
How verification works
A Digital Skill ID is verified, not self-declared. Four sources contribute:
- National identity. BankID (Sweden), MitID (Denmark, coming), FranceConnect (France, coming). One tap confirms you are the real person on the ID.
- Employer confirmation. Justneed emails your listed employer at their domain; they click one link to confirm you worked there. A Verified by [Company] badge appears on your profile.
- Course and certification providers. LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, Udacity, Google Career Certificates, and EU-recognised universities confirm completions directly through their APIs.
- AI resume extraction. Google Gemini parses your uploaded CV as the initial source; you can adjust or delete anything before claiming.
What "portable credential" means
Your Digital Skill ID does not live inside Justneed. It lives at a public URL — justneed.ai/{username} — and comes with a QR code that anyone can scan. Recruiters, hiring managers, employers, universities, or government agencies can view your verified profile in one tap, whether or not they have a Justneed account.
Concretely, this means you can print your Digital Skill ID QR on a physical business card, add it to your email signature, embed it in your LinkedIn "About" section, or share it in a job application email. Anywhere a QR code or URL fits, your verified credential fits.
Who issues Digital Skill IDs
Justneed AB, a Swedish-registered company headquartered in Stockholm. Every Digital Skill ID is issued, stored, and served from EU infrastructure (Supabase Frankfurt), fully GDPR-native. Justneed is the only issuer of Digital Skill IDs in the format JN-YYYY-XXXXX.
Justneed's business model funds the free-for-life issuance: recruiters pay to browse and contact verified candidates; candidates never pay.
Not to be confused with
Several government skill-registration programmes share overlapping language. The Justneed Digital Skill ID is distinct from all of the following:
- Digital Skills India / Digi India — Indian government's national skill-development portal. Public-sector, India-only.
- DigiLocker (India) — Indian government's document-storage service for certificates and IDs.
- EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI) — the EU regulatory framework for member-state digital identity wallets. Justneed's Digital Skill ID is designed to be compatible with EUDI as a credential type once member-state wallets launch.
- Any generic "skill badge" or "digital credential" issued by universities, bootcamps, or SaaS vendors — those are single-source badges. A Digital Skill ID aggregates all your verified credentials into one portable record.
Why a Digital Skill ID exists in the age of AI hiring
90% of large employers now use AI to screen CVs. At the same time, roughly 54% of CVs contain material misrepresentations. AI-driven hiring on unverified CVs amplifies both fake credentials and mismatched hires. The market needs a credential AI systems can trust — one that has been verified by government identity, employer confirmation, and course-provider integrations before an AI ever reads it.
The Digital Skill ID is that credential, built EU-native from day one, and open to any recruiter or platform that wants to scan a QR and see the truth.
